What are notary services in Florida and how do they work?

Florida notary services require a state-commissioned notary public to perform official acts such as acknowledging signatures, administering oaths, taking depositions, attesting document copies, and solemnizing marriages. Under Chapter 117 of the Florida Statutes, notaries verify each signer’s identity with a valid government-issued photo ID, confirm that every signer acts willingly without coercion, and apply an official stamp seal with their signature and commission details to each notarized document.

Next Generation Notaries follows all current Florida notary laws to protect clients from fraud, document rejection, and legal issues caused by improper notarization.

Next Generation Notaries provides mobile notary services across all of Florida. Rather than searching generic directories and hoping for a vetted professional, simply call 303-522-1304 or submit a request through our website. We match you with a commissioned, insured Florida notary in your city or county — whether you are in Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, Sarasota, Gainesville, or any surrounding community — and schedule an appointment at your location of choice, often within 24 hours.

Yes, mobile notary service is the core of what we do in Florida. Our commissioned notaries travel to your home, workplace, hospital, assisted living facility, title company, law office, or any public location you prefer — anywhere across the state. You do not need to find a notary office or make an extra trip. We come to you, on your schedule, with all necessary notarial supplies.

Yes. Florida has been a leader in Remote Online Notarization, which is fully authorized under Part II of Chapter 117 of the Florida Statutes (Sections 117.201–117.305). RON allows a commissioned Florida notary to notarize documents via secure, two-way audio-video technology. The signer may be located anywhere, while the notary must be physically present within Florida’s borders at the time of the notarization.

All RON sessions are recorded and retained for a minimum of 10 years. Under Section 117.275, Florida notaries may charge up to $25 per online notarial act. Next Generation Notaries offers fully compliant, convenient RON services for Florida clients who prefer a 100% digital experience.

Many important personal, legal, and business documents require notarization in Florida, including: real estate deeds, mortgage documents, and closing packages; powers of attorney (financial, durable, and healthcare); healthcare surrogates and advance directives; affidavits and sworn statements; loan and refinance agreements; business contracts and corporate resolutions; wills and trust documents; vehicle title transfers; parental travel consent letters; and immigration-related documents.

If you are unsure whether your specific document requires notarization, contact us and we will guide you.

You will need a valid, government-issued photo ID for identity verification as required by Florida Statutes Section 117.05. Acceptable forms of identification include a Florida driver’s license or state-issued ID card, a U.S. passport or passport card, a U.S. military ID, a permanent resident card (green card), or an ID issued by the U.S. Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services.

You should also bring your unsigned documents — do not sign them in advance unless your notary specifically instructs you to do so, as many notarial acts require the notary to witness the actual signing.

Under Section 117.05(2)(a) of the Florida Statutes, a Florida notary may charge a maximum of $10 per notarial act for standard in-person notarizations, including acknowledgments, jurats, oaths, and attested copies. For Remote Online Notarization, the maximum fee is $25 per online notarial act under Section 117.275. For marriage solemnization, the fee matches that of the circuit court clerk, currently set at $30.

Beyond the statutory notarial fee, mobile notaries may also charge reasonable, separately disclosed travel fees, after-hours convenience fees, and document coordination fees. At Next Generation Notaries, all fees are communicated clearly and transparently before your appointment — with no surprises.

Next Generation Notaries combines statewide reach with the personal service of a trusted local professional. Our Florida notaries are fully commissioned under Chapter 117, bonded with a state-required surety bond, and carry errors and omissions insurance for your protection. We offer true mobile service across all 67 Florida counties, flexible scheduling including same-day and evening appointments, multilingual notaries (including Spanish and Haitian Creole speakers) to serve Florida’s diverse communities.

Specialized expertise in real estate closings, hospital notarizations, and Remote Online Notarization. When accuracy, compliance, and convenience all matter — and in Florida’s fast-moving legal and real estate environment, they always do — Next Generation Notaries is the trusted choice.
